Tommy can you hear me??????

For the 3.1416 friends I have who might occasionally check this LJ to see if I actually posted anything, here is the deal: I'm not going to.

You can find my particular brand of bullshit here.

Isn't a movie just a series of still pictures anyway?

There's a new Japanese film that is entirely done with still pictures. How is this different than the series of still pictures that makes up a normal movie? Watch and see. The depth of field and overall clarity in some of these shots is amazing. I wonder if the "actors" got paid as actors, or models, or voice talent. At any rate, I applaud someone for doing something different, rather than another formulaic Hollywood POS.

Brokedick bastard

Randy Quaid is claiming that the producers of Brokeback Mtn lied to him and he should get more money. You know, he should have an agent, maybe a lawyer or two, discuss the contract before he signs it. I'm not feeling too much sympathy for a guy who's been in quite a few movies when he starts whining about how those Hollywood types took him for a ride. Sorry, doesn't ring very true to me. If he doesn't want to work for less money, don't accept the job. Particularly since his asshole character is only in the movie for about 3 minutes total anyhow. Sounds like maybe he wasn't acting in the movie much and is just an asshole.

An enigma wrapped in a riddle wrapped in creamy butter...mmmmMMMMM

Every wanted to build your own enigma device? Perhaps to write mystifying hate letters to your enemies that they will never comprehend or perhaps a love letter to that secret crush? Evidently there are multiple options for the die hard fan. Info courtesy of Gizmodo.

Line Item BS

Bush has proposed vesting more power in his imperial presidency via a form of line item veto.  Like most things political, it sounds fuzzy and warm and how could you be against it?  After all, its stated purpose is to allow the president to call attention to items that sneak into bills that shouldn't be there and should be considered on their own merits.  The inherent problem, like most things in life, is that people are involved...politically minded people.  This is an administration that ruthlessly beats its foes and attempts to keep Congress in line by force, coercion and rewards.  Does anyone really think that Bush wouldn't overlook pork in a bill that belonged to the party faithful while ruthlessly persecuting those that broke from party ranks or became too verbal in their criticisms?  Giving this power to Dubya would be giving him a huge whip with which he could single out and punish any congressman or senator he wanted, all the while making himself look like a white knight protecting us from budget bloating pork.  This imperial presidency needs power taken away from it, not more given to it.

Best weekend ever

I just had one of the best weekends of my life. To illustrate how enjoyable it was, I just accidently stepped on my power strip at work, shutting off my computer and losing a good 30 minutes of work...and I laughed. Life is good.

Contract of Wifely Expectations

It's important to have rules in a relationship.  I'm not certain, however, if these are the appropriate rules.  It reminds me of the timid little guy who worked with me at NSA and was a pushover for anyone and everyone, but who would fly into an unholy rage if his wife packed him the same lunch twice in one week.  He sounded like a petty tyrant at home but was a doormat at work.  I've always found that behavior odd.
